For over fourteen years Ms. Keren Hu has represented established and emerging companies and individual inventors in the procurement, transaction, and enforcement of IP rights. She has recognized expertise in all aspects of IP and technology law as well as with related regulatory compliance issues. She was previously with several large US and global law firms, including Paul Hastings, Morgan Lewis and Pillsbury. Before her legal career Ms. Hu has had significant industry experience in research and product development in consumer electronics and broadband communication ASICs.
Ms. Hu has personally prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patents applications, both US and non-US patents under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, for big and small companies covering a wide range of technologies, including electronic system and devices, ASIC design and Integrated Circuit fabrication, cloud computing, machine learning, DSP, image processing, video streaming, AR/VR and more, for Clients such as ASML, Ikanos, Cambridge Silicon Radio (now part of Qualcomm), Rambus, Google, HP and Apple. Ms. Hu has also performed patent landscape analysis and portfolio mining for issued patents, and prepared infringement and invalidity opinions for clients.
Ms. Hu is a seasoned IP litigator with extensive litigation experience, including pre-litigation due diligence, managing all aspects of fact and expert discovery, motion practices, orchestrating complex claim construction analysis and briefing, taking and defending depositions, summary judgment briefing, hearings in both federal district courts and in front of PTAB.
Representative Experience
· Represented a leading European provider of end-to-end semiconductor and software solutions for the Internet of Everything (IoE) and automotive segments in its acquisition by Qualcomm for $2.4 Billion, performed patent portfolio due diligence review.
· Besides handling its multimedia System-On-Chip patent portfolio, also represented Sigma Designs Inc. in patent infringement cases on various patents, including one related to Ethernet against an NPE in Northern District Court of CA and successfully obtained summary judgment of non-infringement in favor of client.
· Represented a Silicon Valley semiconductor company for an all-cash $275 million acquisition of a data systems and telecommunications provider, performed patent portfolio due diligence review.
